Welcome to Christ Central Church, which began in 1978 with just a handful of people meeting in a living room. Since then, Christ Central has grown and flourished as we have sought to share the love of God with our community.

Men, Women and Children of all ages, cultures and walks of life have given themselves to making Jesus famous. Our deep longing is to continue seeing many people’s lives transformed by the power of God.

We carry with us a mandate from God to resource and release people into their destiny and calling in God.

“Christ Central is for everyone no matter your age or background. We want all to feel welcome to experience the love and presence of Jesus whenever you are among us. Our only aim is to encounter God and learn how to follow Him better.”

Lead Pastor,

A church that resources and releases people into their destiny and calling in Jesus both locally and globally

The journey began with a handful of people meeting in John & Sheila Wheeler’s front room, who longed for an expression of Christianity which resembled that of the early church in Acts. Within 12 months the church was launched with no building, no pastor, no history, no traditions and no money.

God continued to grow His church and our struggle was to find buildings that were suitable and we could grow into. Buildings were purchased, renovated and within a few years outgrown as God’s favour was with us.

Offices were purchased and the church’s main meeting services were held first in St Johns school, and then in Royston Primary school and continued to gather many, through fun days, pantomimes and so much more.

It was during this time that through much prayer and sacrificial giving that we were able to purchase the Kings Hall (an old office supplies premises) we started meeting upstairs in the smaller hall while a major refurbishment of the downstairs was undertaken and finally completed in 1996.

Again there was a need to improve our facility as we continued to grow and take on more ministry opportunities and so a major reconstruction of our welcome area, kitchen facilities and children’s ministry areas began.

We have found that God for many years has used our church and ministry to reach out to both the neighbourhood and the nations with the love of Jesus. We now live with a redemptive purpose to be a Resourcing and Releasing people and everything we do comes under that umbrella.

In September 2019 we planted another congregation into Crystal Palace. We are very excited to see what God will do as we embark on this brand new adventure.

Covid-19 and the UK lockdown resulted in us suspending all public gatherings and launching our new live stream services, Zoom prayer meetings and online small groups. We know that God is at work in this season and are excited about what the future holds and returning to physical gatherings as soon as we can.

When you come among us you will find...

We want to extend a special welcome to everyone whether you are a person of faith or not, whatever your background, whatever your circumstances, we want to help all who meet us encounter the love of God and the fullness of relationship with Him.

Demonstrating the love of God in unity and authentic Christian community together, we celebrate our diversity and embrace all it means to be “one new man in Christ”.

Expressing a life of intimacy with God by worshipping Him in spirit and in truth both corporately and individually.

We welcome the work of the Holy Spirit in every area of our life and testimony knowing both His power and presence are needed for victorious life.

We are passionate about living a life of faith and obedience based on the Bible, believing both its commands and promises.

Developing a lifestyle of prayer, where we expect to hear from God and let Him lead us in all we do.

“We are here for one another’s success”. Jesus’ instruction was simple, make disciples who make disciples, in everything we do we pursue Christ-like maturity.

We place a high emphasis on sharing the Good News of Jesus in words and actions to our family, friends and colleagues in our neighbourhood and the nations, partnering with other churches both locally and globally.

Managing wisely and giving generously of our time, talents and treasure helps us to achieve the call of God to Resource and Release so that the kingdom can advance.
